Ever thought about coming to a Green Thumb Friday at the Woodend Community Permaculture Garden but couldn’t remember what Friday it was? Or wanted to come, but two hours was too much time out of the day?
Well, life has just become a little easier, as every Friday is now a Green Thumb Friday!A one hour Green Thumb Friday.
From 9.30 – 10.30am every Friday morning, our group of dedicated volunteers meet at the Woodend Permaculture Garden to tend to the delightful space. Our current focus is on preparing the beds for spring planting – which mostly involves pulling weeds and digging in compost. We are also harvesting broccoli, parsley, kale, Jerusalem artichoke, silverbeet, leeks, garlic chives, and eggs from the chickens.
The idea of Green Thumb Fridays is simple – bring along an empty basket, volunteer for an hour, then take home your share of whatever is in season. The more help we can get, the more we can grow, and the more we can learn from each other.
Children are welcome and if the weather is miserable we will probably stay home by the fire!
If you can’t make a Friday, monthly working bees are held on the first Saturday of the month at 11am, following the 10am Food Exchange.
